You still collect orbs after each boss battle at the end of the stage like in the first game: The first boss was a fire breathing flying purple dragon-thingy, a step up from the bat ^_^ You control Richter Belmont, and he has a whip just like Simon and the others, and you collect hearts to use your special weapons, like the knife, axe, holy water etc. The graphics were stunning, you can really tell that they used the full potential of Super CD-ROM! D It’s a big difference from the HU-card games. Good thing for me though, since I can’t read kanji fluently but I can understand German! :D Then I realized it was only released in Japan and seeing the japanese subtitles made me come to my senses and understand that this was the way it was supposed to be.
CASTLEVANIA RONDO OF BLOOD PC ENGINE VS PSP MOVIE
I recorded a movie of the intro, it’s awesome! And odd!! There’s a German voiceover, which made me think I had bought the wrong game. that’s what I’ve been playing tonight, and damn this game is good!! :D Play Dracula X aka Vampire's Kiss.First time starting up my PC Engine Duo and it works perfectly! Also I was able to capture gameplay footage through the Elgato! :D Yay!Īkumajou Dracula X Chi no Rondo. If you want something with a little bit of both and terrible controls. You want a classic feel, play Castlevania IV, you something else with a classic type of feeling, play Rondo. Rondo is a walk with tons of variety, but you have to go through it more than once to find everything you want. Castlevania IV is a casual walk in do your shit and you're done. You have two different systems working for the same product, but they have a different way of working. To me comparing these 2 are like comparing a convenient store with a supermarket (not to say either is better than the other). Castlevania IV doesn't have the replay value that Rondo does, it doesn't have the variety in characters, the secret paths, doesn't really have much of a story (these are all fine elements to me for a 'classic' Castlevania btw, no complaints on my end).
Castlevania IV to me is one of the most amazing Castlevanias I have EVER played, but it's not anything like Castlevania 1 or 3 (like another also said in this thread). Seriously don't take it like I'm bashing it or something), with tweaked controls, music, everything. Castlevania IV is a wonderful remake of Castlevania 1 (not to say Castlevania is not good by any means. Rondo of Blood was badass enough to get a sequel like Symphony of the Night. Where as everything was turned down on the remake.Īs much as I love Castlevania IV I can't say that it is the best. The bosses on the original game were difficult and especially near the end with Shaft. I just want to know who played the original version. Im noticing people mentioning that Rondo was easier (some mentioning boss battles). And if you never played RoB then you're missing out on a great classic Castlevania adventure. In the end Rondo of Blood is the superior game for many reasons that don't include my personal bias. I would've loved to play as either of them in that game no doubt. It was a shame that Richter didn't get visually raped in Castlevania Judgment because he is my favorite Belmont who isn't Sonia. Rondo of Blood represents everything I love about this franchise in a single game. I'm still at a standstill over which version of Divine Bloodlines I love more, the SNES Dracula X version or the PC-Engine RoB version. I'll be the first to admit before I knew about RoB, Dracula X used to get all my love but still came second to 4 until I got the chance to play RoB. CV3 did it first though so I will give due where it's earned. And with the alternate paths and Maria being broken as all hell were great additions. Gameplay, Visuals and Music are just sights to behold. To this day it's still a classic and suprisingly I still have my SNES cart somewhere around here. I can still remember the first time I played it and Simon's Theme started blasting and I knew I was in for one hell of a game. Castlevania IV is everything you loved about 1 & 3 except with better music, visuals and Mode 7 gimmicks.
